Donuts for the New Year

Hold me closer tiny donuts…

all that glitters

If you’re staying in with the kids this year, I have some fun donuts for you to make with them. It’s always fun to have a little something friend on new years right? Last year, we made mini corn dogs, popcorn, carrot sticks and veggie dips. This year, we might actually go out and have my parents hang with the kids. She is bringing some poppers, which I’m sure Amelia and Eleanor will eat somehow. (Fancy poop)

I made a purchase of these milk glass bottles on Boxing Day. I knew that it would be so fun for the kids! I probably could have made them myself, but this was easy.

Donut Recipe

2 in worth ofVegetable oil

2 cups all-purpose flour

3 Tbsp sugar

1 Tbsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

5 Tbsp butter

3/4 cups almond milk

For rolling

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Mix all the dry ingredients. Then add milk. Fold into the cold butter.
Roll into little balls. (you could add some fruit, jam, nutella or pudding inside for extra sugary fun). Fry for 3-5 minutes in oil at 350F. (you might need to adjust as you go). Only dropping 4 in the oil at a time. Use a slotted spoon to place on a paper towel before rolling in the cinnamon sugar.  Enjoy!
